Training course on Innovative Microbioreactor Applications in Bioprocess Development
The training course on Innovative Microbioreactor Applications in Bioprocess Development is a continuation of the series of two EUROMBR workshops that were held in 2018 and 2019 at the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany. The training courses are the result of the European project EUROMBR, which took place from 2014 to 2017 within the Marie Sklodowska Curie ITN program.
The 3rd EUROMBR workshop on Innovative Microbioreactor Applications in Bioprocess Development, organized by the COMPETE center, took place between 19 and 23 September 2022 at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubljana. It was attended by 22 lecturers from prominent European academic institutions and companies such as Mettler Toledo, Pyroscience, Droplet Genomics, and ESSI tech. This five-day workshop included a lecture programme and extensive laboratory hands-on sessions covering the following topics: basics of microfluidics, microfabrication, ultrahigh throughput screening tests based on droplet microfluidics, enzyme immobilization in microreactors, cell cultivation in micro- and mesoreactors, biocatalysis in microreactors, and the integration of miniaturized sensors for real-time process monitoring. The workshop was attended by 27 participants (mostly doctoral and postdoctoral students) from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Azerbaijan, Italy, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, and United Kingdom. You can find a more detailed programme here.
Organizing committee of the training course: prof. Polona Žnidaršič Plazl, PhD (FCCT, COMPETE), Tadej Kokalj, PhD, Borut Šketa and Blažka Orel (all COMPETE), Mojca Seručnik and Tadej Menegatti (both FCCT) and prof. Rainer Krull.
